Bharatiya Railway Mall Godam Shramik Union

We are proud to be India’s largest and most active union representing railway warehouse (mallgodam) workers. Our mission is clear — to uplift workers from unemployment, poverty, hunger, deprivation, and illiteracy. We believe that empowering these workers is essential for building a healthy, prosperous, and strong India.

Our Key Demand: Nationalization and Equal Rights

Our primary demand to the Government of India is to nationalize the workers employed in Indian railway goods sheds. These workers contribute significantly to the railway system, just like formal Indian Railway employees. Therefore, they deserve equal government benefits and recognition.

Railway warehouse workers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth movement of goods across the country. Despite their hard work, they remain in unstable and unrecognized employment. By nationalizing these workers, the government can provide them with job security, better wages, and social benefits such as healthcare, pensions, and education support.

Formal Employment for Warehouse Workers

We urge the Railway Board to appoint these workers on a substitute basis. To facilitate this, we are preparing to submit comprehensive data on all our members to the CEO of Indian Railways. This documentation will provide a clear record of the workforce and justify their formal employment.

Formalizing their employment is not only a matter of justice but also crucial for improving efficiency in railway operations. Recognized workers with stable incomes are better equipped to focus on their duties, ensuring safer and more effective handling of goods.

Representing Over 685,000 Workers

Currently, more than 6.85 lakh individuals are engaged in railway warehouse work. This diverse group includes our mothers, sisters, daughters, brothers, and elders from all castes and communities. These individuals are the backbone of India’s supply chain, ensuring timely delivery of essential goods across the country.

Despite their vital role, these workers continue to face harsh working conditions, low wages, and a lack of basic job protections. Many of them have spent years working in these warehouses without any formal recognition or security.

Our Commitment to Workers’ Welfare

Our union’s core responsibility is to fight for the rights and well-being of our members. We remain fully committed to ensuring their security, stability, and fair treatment in the workforce.

We believe that empowering warehouse workers will not only improve their lives but also strengthen India’s economic backbone. By ensuring fair treatment and improved working conditions, we are paving the way for a more just and equitable society.

Our struggle is not just for today’s workers but for future generations who deserve stable employment and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to India’s growth.
